Atelier Sisu, Evanescent - Εικόνα

As part of the celebrations for the 5-year anniversary of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), Stavros Niarchos Park sees the return of one of the most exceptional and “luminous” traditions. A new light installation, Atelier Sisu’s Evanescent, transforms the Great Lawn and sets the tone for the celebrations.

The oversized, colorful, impressive, and seemingly fragile “bubbles” created by the Australian artists land on the SNFCC on February 19, creating a dreamlike landscape at the most iconic meeting point of Stavros Niarchos Park.

As the day turns into night and light gives way to darkness, constantly changing color compositions offer a unique perspective that is in constant flux, just like the colors and textures of the Park itself. Inspired by natural phenomena, Evanescent calls upon visitors to direct their gaze towards the world around them, a world that is fragile and transient, much like a colorful bubble.

Evanescent, a creation of Renzo B. Larriviere and Zara Pasfield of Atelier Sisu, made its debut as part of the World Science Festival in Brisbane, Australia, and is currently on tour in Europe for the first time.

About Atelier Sisu:
Atelier Sisu, based in Sydney, is a design studio driven by Renzo B. Larriviere and Zara Pasfield.
The creative duo, honored for their creations with Dezeen Design Awards in Architecture and GRAY Design Awards in the Wild Card category in 2021, as well as with the INDEF Design Award in Architecture in 2020, works with a multi-person, multi-disciplinary team to create experiential environments, installations and sculptures.

Their work sits between the fields of art and architecture (art-chitecture), with particular focus in the realm of public art, and seeks to create pieces that are both visually and intellectually engaging. Each public artwork aims to offer a unique twofold experience: to contribute to the visual identity of a site and, at the same time, promote community interaction with its visitors.
