For the sixth summer running, Park Your Cinema, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC’s) series of open-air cinema projections, welcomes the public.
This year, for the selection of films addressed to adult viewers, the SNFCC inaugurates its partnership with the Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TIFF), the country’s most prestigious film institution.
This summer, therefore, when our need to laugh is greater than ever, the TIFF presents a series of films that prove that comedy is, after all, a very serious matter.
Ghost World (2001)
Enid and Rebecca are best friends, two unusual girls who feel they don’t fit into the environment of the small American town they live in. Enid’s decision to help Seymour, a much older man, improve his love life, tests the girls’ friendship, as they both find themselves caught up in an adventure that neither their cynicism nor their intelligence have prepared them for. Based on the comic book of the same name, the film is a unique fusion of noir and pop, with protagonists who were hipsters long before the term became popular, and different before diversity broke into the mainstream.
Directed by: Terry Zwigoff Starring: Thora Birch, Scarlet Johansson, Steve Buscemi Duration: 111 mins
The opportunity to attend the screening, in compliance with all necessary measures of safety in accordance with the Hellenic National Public Health Organization, will be given to a limited number of viewers, through advance online pre-registration.
