Discussion: The role of sports in the development of children with disabilities - Εικόνα

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Saturday, December 3, the Sports Excellence Center of the 1st Department of Orthopedic Surgery of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) Medical School, in cooperation with the 3rd Pediatric Clinic of the NKUA Medical School and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), are presenting a discussion about “The role of sports in the development of children with disabilities” at the SNFCC Lighthouse.

Given the powerful symbolism of the day, and the need to focus on the physical and mental health of children with disabilities, the discussion aims to raise awareness of the rights of disabled children.

The multifaceted role of sports in the development of children and the equitable access of all children to sports dramatically enhance their ability to claim equal opportunities in their daily lives.

Expert scientists and selected guests will be discussing the topic with empathy, highlighting the need to combat all forms of discrimination and exclusion of students with disabilities, and broadcasting a message of genuine, tangible respect for diversity.

The event is being staged as part of the Action for Kids with Disabilities, designed and implemented by the Sports Excellence Center.

The event will be offered with simultaneous interpretation into the Greek Sign Language.
