Children’s football tournament
The Stavros Niarchos Park transforms into a big stadium to host, in partnership with the “Regeneration & Progress” NGO, the children’s football tournament “Let’s play Rush Goalie”.
“Rush Goalie” (in Greek “mpakoterma”) is an informal football match variation where there is no official goalkeeper. The goalkeeper position is taken by the player appointed “rush goalie” when they are within the penalty area – so they are always rushing between the goal and normal outfield play! Games of “Rush Goalie” have always filled impromptu playing fields with the excited cries of children, which will soon resound across the Stavros Niarchos Park, to reignite our love for football.
The game of football, undoubtedly one of the most popular sports, is played worldwide and often provides a welcome break from the strains of everyday life. Our young football lovers will form their teams and play “Rush Goalie” at the Great Lawn of the Stavros Niarchos Park, to exercise and have fun while learning about values such as collaboration, team spirit and respect.
