Poetical Works 2022: Engraving Lab

January 2022 witnesses the comeback of the highly successful printmaking workshop “Poetics” led by Maro Michalakakou. The workshop looks back on events of the Culture Center that focus on iconic authors of Modern Greek poetry (“Reflections on an ancient line of verse” on Nikos Gatsos; “Poetical Works” by J. Psychopedis inspired by Odysseus Elytis). We learn about their life and work and draw inspiration to create our own artwork. In this workshop we investigate the way in which poetry and poets can be transubstantiated into visual image.

We become acquainted with the history, aesthetics and basic techniques of printmaking. In each session we experiment with a different technique as well as with the principles of upcycling, giving recyclable materials a second life, and create our own “poetic image.”

For the public to enter the interior area of the activity, it is required to present a valid vaccination certificate or disease certificate, as the space operates as pure. The above applies to adults. Minors from 4 to 17 years old may, alternatively, submit a negative self test (24 hours), PCR (72 hours) or rapid (48 hours) diagnostic certificate, in accordance with the recent government measures.

In any case of presentation of an official document, a parallel identity check of the holder will be carried out.

The use of face mask and social distancing measures are mandatory in indoor and outdoor areas of the SNFCC, in accordance with Hellenic National Public Health Organization regulations.

 Due to public health measures, there may be changes regarding either the staging of the event, or the maximum number of participants.
