Discussion: Topical Issues of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and the Importance of Sports

On Friday, September 23, 2022, the Sports Excellence program, operating under the scientific supervision of the 1st Department of Orthopedic Surgery of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, in cooperation with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center and the team of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Initiative, which is implemented with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and the contribution of the Child Mind Institute, are presenting the discussion “Topical issues of child and adolescent mental health and the importance of sports” at the Dome of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).

Given the urgent need to pay attention to the mental health of children and adolescents, and in light of the wide range of challenges parents and professionals working with children and adolescents are called upon to face on a daily basis, the discussion aims to bring to the fore and deal with crucial key issues that concern us all.

Specialized scientists from the field of sports and mental health and other distinguished guests will be discussing the various, multi-layered aspects of bullying, the impact of the use of social media on the mental health of children and adolescents, and its direct connection to lifestyle. Particular emphasis will be placed on the issue of discrimination and stigma often observed in the field of mental health.
