Φωτογραφία από την ταινία Young Frankenstein

The Meaning of Life is in Laughter

For the fifth summer running, the much-loved SNFCC program Park Your Cinema brings you a selection of classic movies, to either discover for the first time, or enjoy anew on the big screen.

July’s screenings set the tone with laugh-out-loud comedies at the SNFCC’s Great Lawn. At testing times for humanity, cinema has served as the perfect means of escape, encouragement and companionship. The first few months of 2020 went beyond anything that we have experienced as a civilization in several decades. And, ironically, they kept us away from the cinema. But movies are still out there… And laughter is what we need the most today. Let’s share it, once again, out loud!

Young Frankenstein (1974): Plot

The grandson of the famous Dr. Frankenstein arrives in Pennsylvania in order to study the latter’s practices on reanimation, in the hope of restoring his good name and reputation. He will discover his grandfather’s archives and laboratory, but in order to bring his plan to completion, he will need… a dead body! Mel Brooks directs the ultimate homage to James Whale’s legendary 1930s movies, giving us the greatest cult parody ever made. The ensemble cast gives an exceptional performance, and countless lines have become part of pop culture.

Director: Mel Brooks
