The successful performance “A Walk in the Park”, which returned to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center with a series of videos that take place at the Stavros Niarchos Park, in creative partnership with acclaimed artists Dimosthenis Grivas (video direction – music) and Georgina Kakoudaki (dramaturgy – theater direction), continues in August.
Whether or not you already know the Stavros Niarchos Park, the A Walk in the Park “virtual tours” series sheds a different light upon the familiar landscape. Well-known actors of the new generation take on the role of “tour guide” on walks where nature, history, poetry, song and personal narratives comprise a different journey each time. This way, each actor shows us “their own” Stavros Niarchos Park. Starting us off was Kora Karvouni, who took us on a stroll through the Park with a copy of Ilias Venezis’ Aeolian Earth in her hands. This month, Iro Bezou takes over to guide us around the Park through songs of a bygone era, creating a unique musical tour.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) recently commissioned Dimosthenis Grivas (video direction – music) and Georgina Kakoudaki (dramaturgy – theater direction) to create a series of videos for the performance entitled A Walk in the Park, putting the Stavros Niarchos Park once again at the heart of inspiration and creativity. The original, theatrical version of the project, which took the form of promenade performance and ran during the 2019-2020 period under the guidance of director and dramaturgist Georgina Kakoudaki and actors Orfeas Avgoustidis, Kora Karvouni, Iro Bezou, Argyris Xafis, Argyris Pantzaras, Lena Papaligoura, Michalis Sarantis and Michalis Syriopoloulos, was met with great success and an enthusiastic response from the audience.
The #snfccAtHome series, and the SNFCC digital program in its entirety, is realized thanks to a program support grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
Iro Bezou graduated from the Greek National Theater School of Drama in 2009. In theater, she has worked with the directors: Stamatis Fasoulis, Giannis Chouvardas, Thomas Moschopoulos, Akyllas Karazisis, Takis Tzamarias, Giannis Bezos, Katerina Evangellatou, Haris Frangoulis, Aris Biniaris, Maria Panouria, Pantelis Dentakis, Vasilis Koukalanis, Babis Galiatsatos, Lily Meleme, Giorgos Dambasis, Anestis Azas, and Ektoras Lygizos. In cinema, she has appeared in films by: Giorgos Siougas, Stergios Paschos, Giannis Korres, Thanasis Troumboukis, Christos Dabakakis, Lefteris Giannakoudakis, Eleni Mitropoulou, and The Boy. In 2019, she was awarded the Melina Mercouri Prize for her performance in Pantelis Horn’s “To Fintanaki” (The Sapling).
