Speech: Becoming aware of climate change and its challenges - Εικόνα

On the last weekend of September (the 24th and the 25th), the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is organizing the first SNFCC Green Weekend, a two-day event dedicated to environmental awareness, under the comprehensive title “Climate Change and I.”

From 10 am to 10 pm, Stavros Niarchos Park, from the Great Lawn and the Pine Grove to the Mediterranean Garden, the Dome and the Vegetable Garden, as well as all along the perimeter of the SNFCC, the SNFCC will be filled with activities aimed at young and old alike, revolving around the questions: “What is climate change?” and “What can I do about climate change?”.

More specifically, on September 24, at 19:00, the SNFCC Dome will host a speech by Constantinos Cartalis, Athens University Professor in the discipline of “Environment and Climate Physics,” Director of the Environmental Physics Laboratory of the Department of Physics, and member of the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change. His speech is titled “Becoming aware of climate change and its challenges.” In conversation with Iphigenia Taxopoulou, founding member and General Secretary of mitos21 European theatre network and scientific associate of the nonprofit Julie's Bicycle, Constantinos Cartalis will address the issue of climate change by presenting what has already happened, explaining the current situation and why we are now speaking of a Climate Crisis, how it manifests, what the global trends and practices to tackle it are, what studies show about the effects of climate change in Greece, and, ultimately, what each of us can do to have a positive contribution to the management of the issue.

The event will be offered with simultaneous interpretation into the Greek Sign Language.
