The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) was awarded by the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy the 1st prize in the “Mobility Actions” category, as part of recognizing sustainable mobility actions that participated in last year’s European Mobility Week, in a ceremony held at the peristyle of the Zappeion Megaron Hall on July 9th, 2020.

From the very first year of its operation, the SNFCC has consistently promoted sustainable mobility through the fostering of cycling culture and the encouragement of the use of bicycles as a means of transport, exercise and entertainment. It takes part in the actions of the European Mobility Week every year, and this is the second time it has been honored with this particular prize.

Receiving the award on the SNFCC’s behalf was its Director of Programming & Production, Gabriella Triantafyllis, who stated: “It is a great honor for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center to be recognized by this award. One of our fundamental aims at the SNFCC is to promote a more active and eco-friendly way of life, which is why it gives up great pleasure to participate actively in European Mobility Week each year, with multiple and diverse actions that raise the awareness of the citizens of Athens.”

European Mobility Week is an institution established in 2012 by the European Commission, for the purpose of promoting sustainable mobility and urban development. It takes place every year from the 16th to the 22nd of September, with the aim of encouraging urban citizens to adopt sustainable means of transportation, such as cycling and walking.
