On Wednesday, May 24th, Victoria Newhouse will speak about her new book ‘Chaos and Culture: Renzo Piano Building Workshop and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center’ at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York City.
The book traces the decade-long process leading to the creation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) which includes the new facilities for the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera, as well as the creation of the 40-acre Stavros Niarchos Park.
Victoria Newhouse will explore the differences in how Piano approached design for a museum by comparison to a cultural center. Renzo Piano designed the Morgan Library & Museum’s 2006 expansion, and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, thus the event will offer a unique opportunity to examine the different works and their respective approaches.
