On the occasion of the opening of the “Triodion” season, we meet at Stavros Niarchos Park for a series of festive workshops with traditional dances of Southern Italy, exclusively for SNFCC Members! In February and March, the history and tradition of the Greek-speaking villages of Southern Italy come alive through tarantella dances, songs and music featuring traditional local percussion instruments. By dancing and singing during the workshop, participants will become both dancers and musicians.
In Members’ March workshop on World Poetry Day we are inspired by the movement of concrete poetry and the Japanese art of haiku. We will make triplets by fishing words out of old dictionaries and then, we will choose simple shapes that might have a connection to the words of our poems and thus fill our poetic little notebooks. In the second part of the workshop, we will write words on old photographs, inspired by their captions, which we will then also stick in our notebook, to take as a souvenir with us and remember that all moments are art, and we can all be artists.
***New date - 22/4*** The culinary workshop is postponed due to facilitator's health reasons. We apologize for the inconvenience and you will be soon informed about the new date. If you have pre-booked, your participation is automatically valid for the new date. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
In March, we continue the cycle of creative workshops for adults exclusively for SNFCC Members, with a theme inspired by art and traditional techniques from all over the world. Our 2024 workshops include plant-based dyes, embroidery, weaving, handicrafts, and many surprise- collaborations, and will take place on a monthly basis! In this month’s workshop, we will bring together nature and the Park’s plants with fabrics and sustainable dyeing techniques! Using the shibori technique, an ancient Japanese dyeing method, we will produce impressive results on our fabrics.
