Film Club: The Teachers’ Lounge (2023) - Εικόνα

Watch the film and join us in discussing it together with Cinobo’s facilitators!

The Members’ Film Club is back in the New Year, discussing the film The Teachers’ Lounge. Awarded at the Berlin International Film Festival, best German film of the year and the country’s official entry for the 2024 Academy Awards, The Teachers’ Lounge is an irresistible study of power relations and the seismic impact of seemingly smaller decisions in life; an agonizing thriller with school as a microcosm where the outside world no longer exists, and nothing stays hidden.

Summary:
A devoted, idealistic teacher starts her first job at a school. When one of her students is suspected of a series of thefts, she decides to solve the issue on her own. Trying to mediate between indignant parents, obstinate colleagues and aggressive students, she is confronted with the rigid structures of the school system. The more desperately she tries to do everything right, the closer she gets to breaking point.

* Films are not screened during the Film Club.
