On the occasion of the International Women’s Day on March 8, and in view of the WOW Festival that will be presented for the first time in Greece in April by the SNFCC, the Membership Program is launching a new round of meetups and discussions on the subject of Feminist Art History. During our meetings, we will become acquainted with the prolific, multifaceted work of femininities, a work that has largely been suppressed throughout History, and get to know the creators, focusing on the work of visual artists primarily from the 20th century to the present day, and exploring the implications of their work for both art and gender issues over the course of history.

Femininities in Art History
Through an overview of the gendered suppression in the History of Art and in artistic circles over the centuries, we will get to know trailblazing creators, and discuss self-representation and the issue of femininities as muses. How has this suppression influenced beliefs about creation in the arts, and how does it perpetuate gender issues to this day?
