The “Journey to the SNFCC” continues in various municipalities across Attica, through the open participation of the public in cultural and educational events carried out as part of the program. The main purpose of the program is to give citizens the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the SNFCC and its philosophy, as well as to create a fresh approach through which the country’s citizens may engage with the project that aims to contribute in the enhancement of their everyday lives.
In particular, the “Journey to the SNFCC” continues with two “Opera in a Suitcase” performances of Mozart’s Don Giovanni by the Greek National Opera, scheduled for April 2nd at the Municipality of Lykovrisi-Pefki, and April 9th at the Municipality of Kropia. (Arrival time: 20:00)
In this context, the SNFCC invites all residents of the Municipalities in question, as well as anyone wishing to enjoy a classical piece with unexpected plot twists and contemporary direction, to spend a lyrical evening, taking a trip into the musical world of opera.
Both shows are free to attend; for the audience’s convenience, priority tickets will be issued an hour before the scheduled start time, at the entrance of the venues where the events are being held.
Upcoming events at the Municipalities of Peristeri and Kropia
The next stops of the program are the Municipalities of Peristeri and Kropia, where open events will be held during April and May 2014, giving citizens a first taste of the services the SNFCC will be offering in approximately two years: open access to Education and the Arts, and urban green spaces.
Those who love film and wish to be “initiated” into its secrets will have the opportunity to join the film-making workshops that will be held at the Municipality of Kropia in the near future, to create amateur films as part of the “Journey to the SNFCC” program. The workshops include 20 hours of theory and hands-on practice. Similar film-making workshops are also scheduled to take place at the Municipality of Peristeri, during September-October 2014. Those interested in taking part must register at the Municipal Library of Kropia and Peristeri, respectively.
At the same time, during April and May, children and parents who live in the Municipality of Peristeri and the Municipality of Kropia will have the opportunity to take part in an educational program entitled “From my house to the SNFCC”, whereby a portable box will “transport” them, through play, to the future services that will be offered at the SNFCC.
The participation of the Municipality of Peristeri and the Municipality of Kropia in the “Journey to the SNFCC” program will conclude with a chance for the citizens to “meet” the project in person, and a guided tour of the Visitors’ Center on April 26th and June 1st, respectively. There, the public will have the opportunity to take a tour of the place that will soon be flooded with music, books and green spaces, and see for themselves the designs for this major project and the progress of the works. Citizens wishing to join the tours must register at their local Municipal Library.
