Sunny Dolat presents Return to Sender. Four speakers discuss and propose “sustainable choices”.
Sunny Dolat, a founding member of the African interdisciplinary collective NEST, talks about the large outdoor installation Return to Sender and explains the scale of the major environmental problem generated by uncontrolled consumption in the Global North and the disposal of textile waste in the Global South. The baton is passed to four distinguished speakers presenting broader aspects of waste management, discussing the need to reduce carbon footprint and energy consumption, examining and proposing “sustainable choices” for food production and supply, as well as possible answers to simple questions that determine our everyday life and, consequently, our future: How can we help minimize household energy consumption? What percentage of food ends up in the trash on a daily basis? What are the proposed European waste management practices? How can our everyday little habits help reduce carbon footprint and thus tackle climate change?
