Taking the Takis sculptures on display in the Stavros Niarchos Park as its starting point, this workshop draws inspiration from the work of the self-taught artist, and more specifically from the movement he gives his work through the use of magnetic fields, but also from the way he situates his work in public space and, in so doing, redefines the viewer’s relationship to that space.
Centring on these elements, we will experiment, like Takis, with different ‘lowly’, everyday materials, materials destined for recycling or for the bin, and upcycle them into small art-works.
We will create three-dimensional sculptures that will induct us into a new sculptural world ripe for exploration, while initiating us into a meaningful approach to ecology.
