Screening: Flower - Εικόνα

The SNFCC presents, in its first screening in Greece, and within the framework of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation-Lincoln Center (SNF-LC) Agora Initiative, the first independent production of the world-renowned ballerina Misty Copeland, Flower. The short film (28') was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in early summer and then at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts as part of its “Summer for the City” program.

The film focuses on the housing crisis in the San Francisco Bay Area. Rose (Misty Copeland) is a young woman forced to put her dreams on hold as she cares for her ailing mother, Gloria, who is living with dementia. As Rose struggles to keep a roof over their heads, she watches the neighborhood around her slowly fade away—like her mother's memory—until the mysterious Sterling brings to the fore the culture of community and the power of unity, giving Rose a new hope for the future.

Flower is an immersive experience in movement storytelling, highlighting intergenerational equity in the community of Oakland, California, featuring new, original music from Grammy-winning recording artist Raphael Saadiq.
